Pumpkin Science

Mr. Musselman came to visit Francis Wyman today to teach us all about pumpkins, jack-o-lanterns, and fire.  We learned the parts of a pumpkin, that a pumpkin floats in water, three materials are needed to make fire (fuel, heat, and oxygen), and we got to see a very cool experiment.
Ask your child today what happened!!!

Will the pumpkin SINK or FLOAT?

It FLOATS!

Mr. M shows us the parts of the pumpkin.

The Jack-o-lantern and fire triangle.

Completed fire triangle

Thumbs up= fire will go out.  Thumbs down + fire will stay lit.

"The fire will go out because the oxygen will run out inside the pumpkin."

The EXPERIMENT!

WOW!
Pumpkin Explosion!

The crowd goes WILD!
