ExstravagANTS

We have been researching insects this week and one interesting insect we studied was the ANT.  We learned about the main body parts of insects and built our very own ant.  Students read the book Thinking About Ants to help them learn about the jobs and interesting facts about these creatures.  Each student chose an illustration from the text to draw as their ant backgrounds. Check out these 3D ant pictures!

Stone Zoo

We had a great morning at the zoo today! Thank you to the volunteers who joined us and helped to make the day spectacular..  The students were well-behaved and respectful as well.  Some of the highlights were the monkeys, porcupine, Masters of Flight bird show, jaguar, cougar, and snow leopards.
Here are some of our group photos:

Field Day

We had a great time out at the back field today!  It was cold, but that didn't stop anyone. Some of the highlights were tug- of-war, relays, base run, messy backyard, and lawn bowling.  We also got to watch A Bug's Life to get us ready for our insect unit. Check out some pictures.

Temperature Experiment

On Friday afternoon we practiced reading thermometers by experimenting with water, ice, and salt.  Students got to compare their body temperature to the air and temperature of water as well. They had so much fun experimenting! Check out some pictures.
