We are Thankful

This week we have talked a lot about all the things we have to be thankful for.  We made a new craft to decorate our classroom and soon, your home.

A Positive Note!

Many prizes have been earned a used lately with our positive behavior plan.  Today there was a huge amount of coupons used and we earned our class movie!  Everyday, the class can earn scoops into our popcorn jar.  When it fills, the class earns a movie day.  Today we are watching Rio.  The popcorn jar has been emptied and actually already has new scoops earned again.  Here are some pictures of the prizes earned today.  Keep up the great behavior!

Thank You Veterans!

Last week we read a Scholastic News about "Brave Veterans."  Students read about different jobs in the armed forces.  The pictures and video got all students interested and we had some great discussions.  On Friday, we wrote letters to soldiers and veterans.  Students thanked them for their service and bravery.  These letters will be send with the candy our school collected for Treats For Troops.

This week in 212

Another busy week has come and gone!  We are currently working on "Where in the world do we live?" Students are getting to know the continent, country, state, town, and address where they live.  There is always confusion when it gets bigger to state, country, or continent.  We are also learning about the seven continents and major oceans as well.
In math, we have been using the 100 chart to help us learn even and odd, 10 more & 10 less, before & after, and greater than and less than.
In reading we are all starting our comprehension strategy of the month... Summarizing or main idea and details.  You can help at home by asking about the story or text.  Students will be telling the characters, setting, problem, solution, and main idea.

***REMINDER***

No school for students on Monday, November 10 and Tuesday, November 11.  Thank you to all who serve our country! Happy Veteran's Day!
