Owl Investigation

On Monday, we dissected owl pellets to help us answer the question; 'What did the owl eat?"  An owl pellet is a compact ball of indigestible animal material (teeth, skull, feathers, fur.)  The owl regurgitates the pellet and the rest is history.  Ask your child about what we found inside!

Habitat Investigations- Outdoor Classroom

On Friday, your children became habitat explorers!  Thanks to the Amazing Science Center Staff, we were able bring the students to the habitat rather than just using books and internet sources.  At the reservoir, students collected data from 3 different habitats (forest, field, and vernal pool.)  They worked in small teams to collect temperature, weather, soil, and water data.  Then, they were able to explore and learn about animals that live in that habitat.  Back at school, we are using that data as one of the tools to help us learn about animal adaptations, food chains, and habitats.
Our lunch at Simonds Park was a huge success thanks to the many parents that were able to join us and walk back to school with us as well.  Thank you!
Here are some photos from our day.

Online Book Fair

We visited the book fair today.  Many students may bring home a wish list, however the book fair in the school is closed next week.  Here is the link to the online book fair.  I will send a may Scholastic book flyer soon if you would rather wait for that as well.  Have a Great Weekend!
