Recycling and Mary Poppins Preview

Our morning was quite busy!  First, we got a sneak preview of the high school musical, Mary Poppins.  There are many Francis Wyman alumni in the show.  If you are available this weekend, you should go see the show!

Some of the cast.
We also had a special visit from the amazing Science Center teachers.  They have kicked off a recycling challenge at Francis Wyman.  Students got to sort their lunch trash from the day before to see how much could have been recycled.  For the rest of the week, we are being challenged to waste less food, recycle more, and throw less away.  You can try to recycle more and waste less at home too!
Questions to make us think about our choices.

Upcoming Events

April and May are shaping up to be a bust time in third grade.  Here is a list of important dates to remember.

  • Thursday April 7th:  Ben Franklin presentation (auditorium)
  • Monday April 11th: Field trip to the Minuteman National Park (Lexington)
  • April 18-22- Vacation (Patriot's Day)
  • April 25-29 PARCC week #1
  • May 2-5 PARCC week #2
  • May 10th: Burlington Reservoir Field trip (Science)

Please try to have your child in school on time during the PARCC weeks.  This will allow them the time they will need to finish the test rather than using make-up days.  We will be exploring with some practice tests soon to get used to the testing program on the iPad.  We will have some practice questions they will be able to answer as well.
