Happy vacation!

I hope everyone has a safe and relaxing vacation! Have fun with family and friends. If you get bored, you could always do Reflex math, read a book, Spelling City, or write a story or poem.  Here are some students enjoying Reflex Math this morning!

Water Cycle and Clouds

In science we have started our weather unit off with learning about the water cycle and clouds. Here is our bulletin board. It looks wonderful. Students used water-color paints to make the water cycle with labels. They also used cotton balls to make 3D clouds with labels.

We finally got outside (just in time) to draw our tree in winter. Hopefully we will be out here soon to draw a spring tree:)

North America Report

We just finished our first shared writing report last week.  Each student took part in the research and publishing of a class book called "North America." They worked so hard and did a great job.  Next week they will start researching for their independent continent report.

Reptile & Amphibian Projects

It was so much fun getting to see all the reptile and amphibian projects from this class and others.  The students worked so hard, and I am sure the parents had to put some major time into this project as well.  Thank you for helping your child with this, they are always so proud of themselves and it is a great second grade tradition.  Here are a couple pictures from the reptile and amphibian museum day. I wish I could have kept the projects longer, but we just have no room to hold and display them.  I will be printing a picture of each project soon.

Informative Writing

Our research has started for our class report on North America!  Students are learning how to conduct research, take notes, and turn the notes into an organized report.  We are going to organize our report into these categories: Landforms, Countries, Important Places, Animals, and Interesting Facts.  

The past two days of research have been done in the computer lab.  Next we will be using books, maps, videos, and magazines.
